How to Make Flower Elastic Headbands for Newborn Babies

Whether you want to make a custom baby shower gift for expectant parents or you want to make accessories for the baby girl you are expecting, you can make attractive flower elastic headbands that will fit a newborn without spending a lot of money. Kill some pregnancy boredom or distract yourself from Braxton Hicks contractions by making these cute headbands at home rather than paying retail prices in an upscale baby boutique. The construction materials are available in a wide range of different colors, so you can accessorize a gown you have already purchased for your baby with ease.

Things You'll Need

12.5 inch stretch elastic lace
Threaded needle
Scissors
Silk flower
Fabric glue
Button

Instructions

  Lay the right side of the stretch elastic lace face down.

  Fold the stretch elastic lace in half horizontally.

  Sew the ends of the fabric together 1/8 inch in from the edge.

  Tie the end of the thread in a knot and cut off any excess thread close to the knot. Pull the headband right side out.

  Pull the flower head free from the plastic stem and remove any plastic pieces from the layered petals.

  Apply fabric glue around the hole in the center of each layer and stack the layers.

  Set the flower on the seam line and sew a button in the center of the flower. Knot the thread next to the fabric and cut the thread near the knot.
