Wall Hangings
Pre-stretched artists canvases are inexpensive to buy and make the ideal base for experimental or abstract works of art. Use any size of pre-stretched canvas and tailor your design according to the colors of fabric you have in your stash. Lightly draw your design on the canvas in pencil, keeping it simple to start. Try a spiral radiating out from the center, or stripes you can fill in with rainbow-colored yo-yos. Sew the yo-yos, then glue them on your penciled design using hot glue.
Accessories
Embellish all kinds of accessories with fabric yo-yos. Make three or five in varying sizes and stitch them in a cluster to the front of a throw pillow, mixing and matching the yo-yo fabric colors and patterns to either complement or contrast the background color of the cushion. Dress up personal accessories, such as girls' hairbands, T-shirts or dresses with matching yo-yos. Stitch yo-yos along the length of a fabric belt, or hot glue them to the front of a purse.
Christmas Decorations
Cut and sew yo-yos from Christmas-colored fabric, then add glitter using either craft or fabric glue and stitch a looped gold thread to hang the yo-yo decoration from the Christmas tree. Make 3-D decorations by gluing yo-yos around polystyrene shapes, such as balls or cones, to make Christmas trees. Use glittered yo-yos on the front of homemade greetings cards to represent Christmas baubles or the moon in a nativity scene.
Furnishings
Beautify your home with colorful yo-yo-enhanced furnishings. Sew lots of small yo-yos together in rows to make a table runner or mat for a table centerpiece. Give throws and quilts a makeover, using yo-yos as a decorative edging or a central motif. Add yo-yos to tablecloths, the edges of guest towels or as embellishments in the corners of pillowcases on the bed.
