How to Make a Button-Flap Pocket

There are a few reasons that you may want to sew on a button flap pocket. You might want to fix a pocket or you might want to create a new look for a garment you own. These pockets will come in handy for holding change or other small items that you don't want to lose and they cal also be used to add a practical fashionable item to your favorite clothing.

Instructions

      Cut a 4-inch-wide by 8-inch-long piece of fabric in the shape of a triangle. This should look similar to the end of a men's tie. Fold each of short edges of the material up 1/4 inch and press the folds down with an iron that i set based on the type of fabric that you have chosen to use.

      Fold the fold that your ironed up another 1/4 inch and sew it in place place. Situate the fabric facing down and fold over one of the short edges 3 inches.

      Sew up the side of the fabric that sits parallel of the fold.

      Fold the 2-inch flap of fabric that remains over the pocket and press it into place with an iron. Sew a button hole on the inside of the flap.

      Sew a button to the outer edge of the pocket.
