A Shemagh is an Arab scarf used to protect the head and neck from sand and sun. In order to keep cool while wearing the scarf, make it from thin cotton fabric, typically muslin This ensures that air can easily pass through the fabric, but the sun and dirt cannot. For these basic instructions, the Shemagh will not have tasseled edges.
