How to Make a Tulle Train

Things You'll Need

  • Measuring tape
  • Tulle fabric 45 inches wide
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • Spool of wide ribbon
  • Hand needle
  • Thread
  • 2 hook and eye closures
  • Pushpins

Instructions

      Measure the distance between your waistline and the desired end of the train. Double this length measurement and measure and cut the tulle at this length. Fold the tulle in half vertically and cut the tulle horizontally across the fold line.

      Fold the ends in to the center point of the fabric at the top edge and sew across the folds to hold them down.

      Measure and cut enough ribbon to go halfway around your waist.

      Fold the ribbon in half vertically and lay the folded top edge of the tulle inside the ribbon's fold and sew across the ribbon.

      Sew a hook closure on each end of the ribbon and lay the ribbon along the waistline at your lower back. Using pushpins, mark the placement for your eyes according to the placement of the hook closures on the ends of the ribbon.

      Remove the pins and hand-sew the eyes in place. Hook the ribbon and train to the back of the dress.
