How to Use the Triangle Trimmers

Triangle trimmers are highly prized by quilters. The precision of the tool ensures even side lengths of each patchwork quilt piece. Sewing enthusiasts should have little difficulty mastering the use of this helpful quilting implement when stitching basket quilts or similar patterns that require a large number of triangular-shaped patchwork pieces. Trimmers save quilters time and frustration by allowing triangle corners to be trimmed before piecing rather than trying to line up slightly different pieces and cut after stitching.

Instructions

    • 1

Align the triangular quilt piece with the quilt square onto which it will be pieced on a cutting mat.

    • 2

Choose the correct triangle trimmer by lining up the trimmer edge along the triangle corner that needs to be cut.

    • 3

Roll the rotary cutter across the quilt triangle. Press firmly and run it tightly against the edge of the triangle trimmer.

    • 4

Discard the trimmed corners, and sew the cut triangular quilting piece to its corresponding quilt square.
