Things You'll Need
Instructions
Use the pencil to draw a small upside-down triangle nose onto the bear's snout.
Cut a 24-inch length of embroidery floss. Embroidery floss comes as six strands of embroidery thread twisted together. Separate two strands of thread from the 24-inch length of embroidery floss. Save or discard the remaining four strands.
Thread the needle with the two strands of thread. Knot the thread.
Push your needle up through the back of the material you are embroidering to the front of the material so that the knot is resting against the back of the material.
Push only the tip of the needle through to the back and back up to the front. Pull the needle all the way through to the front. This will create a stitch approximately 1 centimeter in length.
Move the tip of the needle 1 centimeter to the right of the completed stitch. Push the tip of the needle through to the back and come back up at the end of the previously completed stitch. Continue using this backstitch to embroider the entire outline of the drawn triangle.
Use a vertical satin stitch to fill in the triangle. Begin by pushing the needle up from the back of the material at one of the side corners and creating a line with the thread straight up to the top outline of the triangle. Push your needle tip through to the back of the material at the top of the outline and push the tip back up at the bottom outline.
Work your vertical satin stitches side by side, beginning at the top outline of the nose and coming down straight to the bottom outline of the nose. Continue across until you reach the opposite side corner. Push your needle to the back of the fabric to complete the final satin stitch.
Push your needle up through the back of the fabric at the bottom point of the bear's nose. Create one stitch that begins at the bottom point of the bear's nose and extends downward and to the right at a 45-degree angle. Make this stitch approximately equal in length to the length of the bear's nose.
Push the needle up through the back of the fabric again at the bottom point of the bear's nose. Create the same type of stitch downward and to the left at a 45-degree angle. This will create an upside down "V" shape to complete the mouth.
Knot the thread at the back of the fabric. Cut the leftover thread.
