Scoop
The scoop neckline is a popular style option that's characterized by its scoop or semi-circle shaped neckline. Scoop necklines are comfortable and not very revealing if they're not cut too low. The simple design of the scoop neckline opens up your options as far as the silhouette of your dress; ball gowns, A-line or "cupcake" style dresses are all complemented nicely by the scoop neckline.
Square
Square necklines are similar to the scoop necklines, except they have a straight line instead of a scoop at the neckline. The square neckline is a classic and elegant style that also complements most dress silhouettes. Pageant dresses with this kind of neckline may be more comfortable for your child, compared to a halter neck, for example, as there are no straps to tie around the back of the neck. You can just zip on the dress and go. The square neckline is a no-fuss neckline that will make life a lot easier for you and your child.
Off-the-Shoulder
The off-the-shoulder neckline has straps that hang off the shoulders. You can opt for a puffy off the shoulder neckline with straps that have double layers of fabric or add crystals all along the neckline to add more drama to the dress. Off-the-shoulder necklines draw your attention up to the shoulder and face of your child, which makes them perfect for showing off her beauty. An off-the-shoulder neckline coupled with a "cupcake" silhouette is a popular dress style among those in the pageant circuit.
Boatneck
The boatneck, sometimes called bateau, is another age-appropriate neckline choice for your one-year-old's pageant dress. It has a slight scoop with straps that connect at the shoulders. This style of neckline also draws the eye up toward the face, which makes it perfect if you want to highlight your child's facial features. You can add beads or crystals along the neckline of your boatneck, but avoid adding too many embellishments, as they may take away from highlighting your little one's face.
