Things You'll Need
Instructions
Use the measuring tape to measure your bust, waist and hips. Deduct 3 to 4 inches from the measurements of your waist. Take your measurements two or three times to make sure that your measurements are as accurate as possible.
Using a bustier pattern that reflects your body's dimensions, determine how much fabric you need to buy.
Lay the fabric out on your work surface, wrong side up. Lay the pattern pieces over your fabric and pin them in place. Trace along the edges of your pattern pieces with sewing chalk. Use your tracing wheel to go over the line you just traced along the edges of the pattern to make a cutting line (outermost wheel) and sewing line (innermost wheel), with an allowance for seams between the two lines.
Remove the pattern pieces from your fabric. Cut out your fabric pieces along the cutting lines. Pin your pattern pieces together per the instructions on your pattern. Sew the pattern pieces together. Sew along the sewing lines of your fabric and remove your pins as you start sewing closer to them.
Lay the bustier wrong side up and draw a line (in the seam allowance) that runs parallel to each seam along the torso of your bustier. Lay the boning on top of the line you just drew and fold fabric over your boning. Secure the boning in place by sewing over the fold you just created.
Place the hook and eye tape on the back part of your bustier, where it is intended to close. Secure the tape in place with pins and sew it onto your bustier, remember to remove the pins as you sew closer to them.
Try the bustier on and use the pins to take in any places that may fit loosely on your body. Fold the loose fabric in toward the wrong side of your bustier and secure it in place with pins. Take off your bustier and sew the bustier along the pins. Hem the edges of your bustier by folding them over toward the wrong side of the bustier and pinning them in place. Sew the bustier along the hemlines to finish making your well-fitted bustier.
