Things You'll Need
Instructions
Dress the child in the jumper. Pin front of the jumper skirt to the back just below crotch level. Have the child sit down to ensure the crotch is not too high for comfort. Adjust the pin until the crotch is at a comfortable height. Take off the jumper.
Spread the jumper out flat on a table folded along the side seams.
Use a tape measure to find the center of the hem on both the front and back of the skirt. Mark these points with a pin.
Measure across the width of the skirt to determine if the pin holding the skirt together is in the center of both the front and back of the garment. Adjust the position of the pin until it is centered.
Use a yard stick to cut a straight line from the center of the hem to the pin at the crotch on both the front and back of the skirt. The cut edges will be the inseams of the legs.
Turn the garment wrong-side out and pin the pant legs together along the inseam.
Machine-stitch the inseams, with a 5/8-inch seam allowance, from the hem on one leg around the crotch to the hem on the other leg.
Sew the seam again 4 inches on each side of the crotch to strengthen the seam.
Clip the curve at the crotch by cutting through the seam allowance almost to the stitching.
Finish the edges of the seam allowances with a zigzag stitch.
Turn the jumper right-side out.
