Instructions

  1. Use an Iron or Gift Wrapping Tape

    • 1

Dampen your paper towel. Place your dampened paper towel over the adhesive. Place a dry cloth towel or cloth over the paper towel.

    • 2

Set your iron on high. Iron over the area where your adhesive is located for approximately five to 10 seconds. Repeat several times.

    • 3

Lift your iron and towels to see if the adhesive is loosening. Repeat several times until the adhesive can be removed.

    • 4

Use gift wrapping tape instead of the iron by gently sliding it in a vertical and horizontal motion against the adhesive until it comes off onto the tape. If your fabric has a visible grain, it is best to slide the tape along the grain line.

    Use Removal Solvents or Wipes

    • 5

Read the directions on your removal solvent prior to applying it directly to your fabric. These solvents have harsh chemicals and can damage your fabric.

    • 6

Apply your adhesive removal solvent. You can also opt to add vinegar or hairspray to a paper towel and blot your adhesive area.

    • 7

Rub off your solvent with a damp cloth in a circular motion until the adhesive begins to loosen up. You can opt to slide your cloth in a vertical and horizontal direction going with the fabric grain. If you see the fabric weave becoming slightly distorted, you have left the solvent on too long and it is best to remove completely to avoid any fabric damage.

Use your adhesive removal wipe as an option to your damp cloth. Move it in a circular motion. The removal wipe will loosen the adhesive from the fabric. Repeat as needed.
