Things You'll Need
Instructions
Decide what blanket size you would like. The number of ribbons needed will be determined by the size of your blanket. Using 1 1/2 inch wide ribbons will allow you to have a 1/4 inch seam on each side of the ribbon. Cut the fleece backing slightly larger than the size you would like.
Lay the fleece onto the floor or a flat work surface. Attach the ribbons to the fleece side by side. This creates a pattern with the ribbons as well as ensures that you have enough ribbons to cover the fabric.
Pin the sides of the ribbons together, then release the ends from the fabric.
Using a sewing machine, sew the ribbon edges together with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.
On an ironing board, open up each ribbon seam and iron it flat. You should place a thin towel between the hot iron and the satin ribbon to avoid burning the ribbon.
Using the pins, attach the ribbon blanket to the fleece with the right sides together.
Sew the fleece to the ribbons, creating a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Leave a 4 inch gap in one side so that you can turn the blanket right side out. Sew the gap closed by hand.
