Make the Patterns for a Patchwork Christmas Tree Quilt Block
Fold a piece of paper in half. Draw a triangle along the fold that’s broad at the bottom and pointed at the top. Use the ruler as a straight edge to make the edges even.
Draw a second triangle on top of the first, forming a rectangle.
Unfold the paper and cut out the first triangle. This will be the tree pattern.
Cut out one of the triangles that’s left in the rectangle. This will be the background pattern.
Draw another rectangle as wide as the first triangle. Draw a smaller rectangle in the center of this rectangle to make to the trunk. Cut out the center rectangle for the tree trunk pattern. Cut out of the side rectangles for the background pattern.

Cut one tree trunk from green fabric and two side rectangles from background fabric. Stitch the side rectangles to the tree trunk right sides together, then press the seams flat.
Place the tree trunk section and the bottom tree section right sides together. Stitch them together, the press the seam flat.
