How to Decorate a Go Kart

Many children and adults enjoy go kart racing, which can be an engaging family hobby. Some go karts have motors and others do not. The ones without engines are sometimes referred to as soap box cars,. Karts can be simply constructed from plywood or fabricated from welded metal. Regardless of body type, decorating the vehicle is the final creative step, and there are many ways to do this. Choose a theme or image. Special occasions and holidays can also dictate decorative motifs. Stencils, spray paint and decals can be used.

  • Masking tape
  • Spray adhesive
  • Newspaper
  • Stencils
  • Spray paint
  • Decals
  • Clear acrylic spray

Instructions

    • 1

      Lay stencils and decals in a variety of positions on the go kart. Do not tape or glue anything at this point. Decide on placement.

      Tape the desired stencil on the go kart with masking tape or spray adhesive. Tape pieces of newspaper around the stencil to protect the rest of the go kart from paint overspray.

      Spray a light coat of paint over the stencil. Let the paint dry. Apply another coat of spray paint if necessary. Remove the stencil and newspaper after the paint dries.

      Apply number, letter and image decals to the surface according to the manufacturer's directions. Give the go kart a final coat of clear acrylic spray to protect the decorative elements.
