Things You'll Need
Instructions
Check out as many books and videos as possible on the subject at your local library. Many magicians have gotten started by studying magic books. Once you have done quite a bit of studying, purchase the necessary equipment you will need to perform the tricks you have read about. You may have a local magic shop in your area, or you can also order supplies online.
Practice as much as possible. Creating the perfect illusion will take a great deal of practice. Keep it up until you have perfected some tricks. Ask family members to serve as a mock audience so you can try your tricks out on them.
Check your local phone book and see if there are any magicians listed. Offer yourself as an apprentice. If the magician isn't taking on an apprentice, find out if they will at least let you interview them or pick their brain about different techniques or different books or tricks they recommend.
Take some acting classes. Becoming a magician requires you to be comfortable in front of an audience. You will need to learn how to speak in front of people in a way that captivates their attention and sparks their interest. Acting classes can also help you learn to play a variety of roles.
