Get a wooden sword. You can purchase one online or at a local martial arts shop. Make sure that your sword can be held comfortably and is balanced.
Balance yourself. Place yourself into a firm stance. Thrust the sword in a forward motion. Hold your wooden sword in this position. Make sure that the opponent is kept at a secure and harmless distance.
Be in motion. Be as fluid as possible. Your movements must be seamless. Maintain your focus on each part of your body. Carry out the practice sessions using a dummy made of wood.
