Bunny Hop
The bunny hop, also called the "ollie," is a basic trick, and a good starting place. As the name implies, it is a simple hopping motion. The bunny hop is a building block for more complex tricks. The rider bends his knees and jumps, lifting the scooter off the ground while pulling the handlebars up to hold the board firmly against the feet.
Wheelie
Also called a manual, the wheelie is performed while cruising at a moderate pace. The rider moves his feet to the back of the board and pulls up on the handlebars, lifting the front wheel into the air. Like the bunny hop, the wheelie is a basic move and often appears as part of more complicated tricks. A rider performs a front wheelie by pushing the bars down and lifting up the back foot to bring the back wheel in the air.
Jayhop
A combination of a wheelie and a bunny hop, a rider performs a jayhop by hopping into the air, raising the front wheel higher than the back wheel. When a rider jayhops onto a ledge such as a curb, holds the pose and then hops back to the ground, this is a stall.
Spins
During tricks, riders can rotate the board around the handlebars to perform spins. A bar spin moves the board 180 degrees around the handle bars while a tail whip rotates the board a full 360 degrees during a bunny hop. To perform a tail whip, riders kick the board midair to spin it and land as the board fully rotates back into position.
