Basic Speed Improvement
Check the camera to confirm the battery does not lag. Try a few photos with flash. Note whether the camera shuts down due to lack of power shows a warning sign for low battery reserve left. Either change out the battery with a new one or remove the battery and charge it on a re-charger.
Pull out the memory card from the camera. Note the brand and size of card and purchase a new card with the most modern technology coded onto it. Put the new memory card into the camera. Turn the camera on to confirm it reads the new card. Test the new card by taking a few speed photos and time the download pause as the camera saves the images to the card. Return the card for a refund and use your old memory card if speed in saving images is not improved.
Examine the lens on the camera currently. Note the lowest level of F-stops on the lens (the lower the F-stop, the more light the lens can let in at lowest setting). Replace the lens with a lens that has a smaller F-stop value if the current lens cannot go lower than four. Remove the old lens and install the new one one by twisting and locking it into place. Use the old lens as a backup when traveling.
Camera Setting Faster Speed Adjustments
Switch the camera to creative settings. Locate the setting for time value designated as "TV" and switch the setting to it. Then use the dial on the camera to change the time value setting to a higher value (lower numbers are slow, while higher numbers are fast shutter speed).
Find the camera setting for aperture designated as "AP." Set the camera to aperture setting or priority. Use the dial on the back of the camera to change the aperture setting to its highest value. Take photos and notice how much quicker the shutter snaps with a smaller aperture than a bigger one with a lower value.
Flip the camera over to display the camera menu. Push the menu button and toggle the selection until it shows film speed in terms of ISO, which indicates light sensitivity. Switch the ISO from a low value to a higher value, such as 800. Test the camera and notice how fast the images are taken compared to lower film speed values.
