How to Make Your Own Dinosaur Dig for Preschool

Most preschoolers love dinosaurs and when they're learning about dinosaurs, it is fun to set up your own dinosaur dig. Be sure to teach the children about paleontologists and their jobs before doing this activity, so they can pretend to be paleontologists as they dig. Depending on the number of preschoolers you have, you may need to set up more than one dinosaur dig or have the children take turns.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill the sandbox or roasting pans halfway with sand. If you don̵7;t have a sandbox or roasting pans, you can use any large container, such as a wading pool.

    • 2

Bury the dinosaur figures in the sand. Scatter them all over the container and bury some deeper than others.

    • 3

Give the children small sandbox shovels to dig for the dinosaurs. If you are using roasting pans, you may want to give them plastic spoons since there will be less sand to dig through.

    • 4

Have the children brush the sand off of the dinosaurs with the paintbrushes each time they find one.
