How to Kill Mosquitoes in a Room

Mosquitoes are bugs found throughout the world that are universally despised because of their habit of biting. It is only the female mosquito that sucks blood, however, and the blood is required to aid in the growth of their young. Mosquitoes actually feed on fruit and plant juices for sustenance. Killing a small amount of mosquitoes in an enclosed space, such as a room, is a much less arduous task than keeping mosquitoes at bay when you are outdoors.

Instructions

    • 1

Smack each individual mosquito with a fly swatter. Female mosquitoes looking to bite will be attracted to you, so rather than going looking for them, let them come to you, and when you notice them buzzing around whack them.

    • 2

Install an electrical bug zapper somewhere in the room. Bug zappers are generally not recommended for killing mosquitoes because they kill many bugs that are necessary and helpful, not just mosquitoes. In an inside environment, however, where you probably want to get rid of mosquitoes along with any other bugs present, a bug zapper is exactly what you want.

    • 3

Purchase an electric bug zapper that emits both CO2 and octenol if your mosquito problem is particularly bad. Mosquitoes and other biting flies, such as no-see-ums, are attracted to one or more of these ingredients, and an electrical zapper that emits either or both will be more effective than a bug zapper that only uses light to attract bugs.
