How to Make a Spider Monkey Out of Play-Doh

Creating a Play-Doh spider monkey can make the difference between a boring and entertaining animal craft project. Spider monkeys are indigenous to Central and South American rainforests. Their physical adaptations include long and narrow limbs and an elongated tail. Such attributes allow spider monkeys to swing from tree branches with speed and dexterity. You can represent the physical characteristics of a spider monkey by tracing one out of Play-Doh.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut out the spider monkey picture.

    • 2

Roll black Play-Doh out with a rolling pin so it is long and wide enough to fit the size of the spider monkey picture and about 2 inches thick.

    • 3

Place the spider monkey cut-out on top of the Play-Doh. Press a flathead screwdriver around the outline of the spider monkey to make indentations in the Play-Doh.

    • 4

Remove the picture. Cut through the Play-Doh along the indentation with a plastic knife to define the shape of the spider monkey. Separate it from the rest of the Play-Doh.

    • 5

Look at the spider monkey picture and add details to the Play-Doh version such as dark brown eyes, a light-brown underbelly, light brown shading around the eyes and pink lips.
