Swordfish
Swordfish, also known called "broadbill" in some countries, are large, predatory fish characterized by long, sword-like bills. Female swordfish mature at 4 to 5 years of age, while males mature at 3 to 4 years of age. A full-grown swordfish can reach a maximum length of almost 15 feet and can weigh up to 1,400 lb. Swordfish do not swim in schools, but travel alone or in loose groups.
Bigeye Tuna
Bigeye tuna can be found in the open waters of nearly all tropical and temperate ocean waters, except for the Mediterranean Sea. Bigeye tuna get up to about 8 feet long and can weigh more than 400 lb. They sexually mature at the age of 4 and have a lifespan of up to 12 years. Although bigeye tuna live near the surfaces of the oceans and seas in which they live, they tend to go on deep diving excursions to feed.
Atlantic Sailfish
Atlantic sailfish are found in most regions of the Atlantic Ocean, except for large portions of the central areas of the North and South Atlantic. Atlantic sailfish can also be found in the Caribbean Sea. They are metallic blue in color, with large sail-like dorsal fins, and have long, pointed bills, similar to those of swordfish. Atlantic sailfish can live up to 4 years, grow to over 10 feet long and weigh up to about 128 lb.
White Marlin
White marlin are big, elongated fish with spear-like upper jaws like those of swordfish. They are generally dark blue to chocolate brown. Although they are generally regarded as a rare, solitary species, white marlin tend to travel about in small groups consisting of several members. White marlin, on average, weigh 45 to 65 lb. and can grow up to 8 feet long.
