How to Use Pumpkins as Food for Animals

Most animals can eat pumpkins, but they should only be fed a limited amount of pumpkin. Smaller animals especially, such as dogs, may experience loose bowels as a result of eating too much pumpkin. In moderation and when served properly, house pets can eat pumpkin. Animals in the wild frequently eat raw pumpkins, much to the annoyance of farmers everywhere. Though not technically necessary to any animal's diet, you can use pumpkins for food for animals.

Serve a small amount of pumpkin to your dog or other house pet.
