Identifying Your Target Animal
Research the type of animals that live in your area to narrow your tracking to particular kinds of droppings.
Estimate the size of the animal droppings for both length and width.
Identify the form of the animal droppings. Determine if the droppings are tubular, round, flattened on the ends, pellet shaped or if they resemble a rope.
Note the time of day the animal droppings were located and whether the droppings were found only once or on multiple occasions.
Refer to the first website listed in the resources section below for images that can help you determine the animal that most likely left the animal droppings you have tracked.
If the animal droppings are white, refer to the second website listed in the resources section below. These droppings were most likely left by a bird, a reptile or an amphibian.
