English Bulldogs
English bulldogs are among the dog breeds with the broadest heads. The circumferences of English bulldog heads are typically as much or more than their height from floor to shoulder. Their faces are wide and flat, making them appear squashed. These dogs are short, but stocky and muscular. Their broad heads are their dominant feature.
Bullmastiffs
Bullmastiffs are part mastiff, part bulldog. Their heads are similar in size and shape to bulldogs. They are much larger than bulldogs, though, weighing up to 130 pounds. Their heads are broad with wide, short muzzles. Like bulldogs, they have wrinkly faces and droopy jowls.
Rottweilers
Rottweilers are medium- to large-sized dogs that grow to a height of up to 27 inches at the shoulder. They have broad heads at the top, between the ears. Their muzzles are relatively broad as well, but not as much as those of bulldog breeds.
Neapolitan Mastiffs
Everything about Neapolitan mastiffs is broad and heavyset. They also have wrinkly, droopy skin over their entire bodies, enhancing the effect of their size. Neapolitan mastiffs' heads are broad, even in relation to their large bodies. They also have broad muzzles, which are equal in length and width.
Pugs
Pugs are small lapdogs with broad bodies and heads. Their heads are large all-around and sit atop broad necks. They have short muzzles, like bulldogs. They also have wrinkles and the appearance of having pushed-back faces.
Mastiffs
Mastiffs are one of the largest dog breeds on Earth. The smallest of them are females that are no less than 27 1/2 inches from floor to shoulder. The width of mastiffs' heads is one of the selling points for these dogs. Show officials and dog breeders admire mastiffs with the widest heads. Their muzzles are short and wide, but not pushed in like those of bulldog breeds.
