How to Glue Frags

Coral frags are pieces of live coral that can be put into a saltwater fish or reef aquarium. Coral frags can't just be placed into the aquarium but need to be attached to something, such as a rock. Check what type of frag you are attaching before placing it in the aquarium because some frags need more light and some may need a constant water current. Attach your coral frag with water-safe glue and epoxy.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Cut off a piece of epoxy putty. You will want enough putty to cover the bottom of the frag, but you don't want so much that it will ooze out the sides.

    • 2

Knead the putty until it has been activated. It will begin to harden slightly and may produce a foul odor as the chemicals mix.

    • 3

Dry the bottom of the frag.

    • 4

Squeeze enough super-bonding glue onto the bottom of the frag to create a thin layer. Don't allow glue to touch any living part of the frag, as this may kill the living tissue.

    • 5

Press the kneaded epoxy putty gently on top of the layer of glue. Add another layer of glue on the exposed side of the putty.

    • 6

Press the frag onto the desired surface in your tank. Hold the frag in place with your hand until you're sure the glue has dried enough to keep it secure.
