How to Save Red Wolves From Going Extinct

Before their population was reduced by human encroachment on habitat as well as poaching and legal hunting, red wolves inhabited much of the southeastern US, ranging from Pennsylvania to Florida to Texas. Red wolves are near extinction in the wild, existing almost exclusively in zoos and captivity. The Defenders of Wildlife organization reports that 100 red wolves are living wild in North Carolina. This rehabilitation is a result of the work of conservation programs that concerned individuals can become involved with.

Host events such as raffles or bake sales to raise funds for red wolf preservation. To gain community support and raise awareness for any of these endeavors, post fliers in your community, hand out information pamphlets and leave signs in supportive local businesses alerting the public about the potential extinction of red wolves. Tell people how concerned individuals can get involved in protecting them.
