How to Draw a T-Rex Step-by-Step

Tyrannosaurus Rex, or T-Rex, has become one of the best well known dinosaurs. With its big head, huge teeth, strong hind legs and tail, and tiny upper arms, its peculiar looks are familiar to many. A big, carnivorous prehistoric reptile, it's been the star villain in many stories and movies. T-Rex also frequently appears on children's products, from stickers to bedsheets, and as a toy character, whether plastic or plush. By combining a few basic shapes, you can capture the unique features of a T-Rex.

Instructions

- 1
  Draw an egg shape on a piece of paper. Make sure to make one end slightly narrower than the other end. This represents the head.

  Draw a very small circle toward the edge of the narrow end and right in the middle of it. This shape represents the nostril.

  Draw a line beneath the nostril that goes from the edge of the narrow end to the middle of the head. This represents the mouth.

  Draw little, downward pointing triangles all along and extending from the mouth. These triangles represent the teeth.

  Draw a small oval the size of the nostril about one-third of the way from the edge of the wider side of the head, and about one-third of the way from the top. This represents the eye.

  Draw a line that follows the outline of the top of the head and extends downward. Make it the same length as the head.

  Draw a line that extends from the bottom of the head and is parallel to the other line. These lines represent the shape of the neck.

  Draw an egg shape that is about three times the size of the head and connects, at the narrow end, with the neck. This shape represents the body.

  Draw two, small front arms where the neck meets the body. They should look like a stick bent in the middle with two claws at one end. Make them about half the length of the head.

  Draw a long, triangular, slightly curved shape from the wider, rear of the body. Make the base of the triangle as wide as the body, and the other end tapered and thin. This shape is the tail.

  Draw a shape that looks like a drumstick bent in the middle. The wider portion of the drumstick should cover about half of the body, and it should be bent right below the body at the level of the belly. The bent section should point toward the head. This represents the leg.

  Draw a second, identical leg but place it slightly closer to the front end of the T-Rex than the other leg. Erase extra pencil lines that fall within the body or overlap with the other leg.

  Draw three claws connected to the leg on each foot. The claws should have the shape of chicken feet but should be thicker.
