Things You'll Need
Instructions
Select an area in the water where the current is strong but the water is shallow; generally, the snare can be assembled in a pool area or near the shore.
Collect green reeds or sticks. The number and size of the sticks or reeds you collect hinge on how large you would like your snare to be.
Build the back wall of your snare against the current by hammering your reeds or sticks into the ground. The reeds should be tall enough so that it they are just visible above the water's surface and deep enough in the ground so that the current or waves will not tip the snare. The reeds or sticks should be planted close enough together so that the fish you desire to catch will not pass through them.
Build the side walls of your fish snare; the side walls should be parallel to one another, making the snare look like a square with one side missing. The reeds or sticks for the side walls should also be hammered into the ground, just visible above the water's surface, and also deep enough that they are anchored. They should be spaced similarly to the reeds or sticks of the back wall.
Construct the entrance walls of your snare. Hammer your reeds or sticks into the ground at the same height and with the same space between each reed as you did for your back and side walls, but position your entrance walls so that they form a wide "V" angle pointing towards your back wall. The two entrance walls should overlap the side walls so that it seems like the "V" is partially inside of the square.
Leave a small opening at the tip of the "V"; place no reeds there. This will leave a sort of doorway open for the fish to enter. The fish will enter the snare, but find it difficult to swim against the current and out of the small entryway,
