Things You'll Need
Instructions
Find a snake to be photographed. Make sure to wear protective clothing while you are doing this. This includes a long pair of thick pants, high boots, gardening gloves and a long-sleeved shirt. Begin by looking under rocks, fallen trees and in bushes. For extra safety you can use a long stick to move the rocks, trees and bushes. You can also find snakes near rivers, springs, lakes and other bodies of water.
Keep a safe distance when you have spotted a snake. If you are not sure of the type of the snake, maintain a safe distance from the snake. A snake can strike at least half the distance of its body. Remember, some types of snakes, such as the spitting cobra (in India), can actually shoot their venom from several feet away. A good rule of thumb is to stay at least 15 feet away from the snake at all times.
Zoom in on the snake using the feature on your camera. Try to fill the lens of your camera with the snake's head and body. Take several shots from many different angles. Adjust the shutter speed and F-stop on your camera to get different effects. Make sure to always shoot the snake with the sun behind you. Otherwise, you will just get a shadow.
