How to Get Rid of a Vulture

Vultures are considered to be one of nature's "vacuum cleaners," feeding on and disposing of dead animals and carrion and preventing the spread of bacteria that their carcasses would produce. Nonetheless, the bird's fearsome appearance and droppings make it an unwelcome guest on many properties, and you may wish to get rid of one if it has taken nest in your yard. Driving away a vulture is as simple as creating an inhospitable environment for it on your property.

Instructions

    • 1

Shake the trees on your property around dusk every day. The birds will be bedding down at this time, and will not appreciate their sleeping quarters being constantly disrupted.

    • 2

Make lots of noise whenever possible. Yell, clap and set off firecrackers if your state and local laws permit it. Vultures do not like loud noises.

    • 3

Spray the birds with a garden hose when they've bedded down in your trees for the evening. The direct harassment will discourage any birds who have stayed throughout the indirect harassment.

    • 4

Call your local animal control officer if the birds still do not leave.
