Grass and Hay
Rabbits can often be seen nibbling on various grasses. Hay is also very important as it promotes healthy digestion and keeps the intestines in good tone because of its high fiber content. Some good grass hays to consider feeding your rabbit are timothy, oat, coastal, brome, Bahia or wheat. Alfalfa and clover grasses and sprouts, as well as dandelion greens are also a tasty treat for rabbits.
Dark Leaf Lettuce
People who have a rabbit generally know that they keep leftover lettuce from going to waste. Fresh, moist lettuce helps a rabbit maintain healthy intestines. It is also good to serve lettuce and other vegetables wet, so as to increase a rabbit's fluid intake and keep intestines moving smoothly.
Thick Leaf Greens
Thick, leafy greens are another good option to provide a rabbit with a rich source of vitamins and fiber. Rabbits love collard and mustard greens, chard and spinach. For rabbits that are not used to eating fresh food, it is good to increase their intake gradually to let their intestines acclimate and avoid diarrhea.
Herbs and Tops
Rabbits have their favorite foods, and one of those are fresh, aromatic herbs. These include cilantro, basil, parsley, watercress, tarragon and mint. Another good option for greens are tops, such as carrot, beet and radish tops.
