Go to the Louisiana milk snake's natural habitats of Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma or Arkansas to observe them in the wild. During the day, they prefer to hide in shaded, sandy and moist wooded areas that provide coverings, such as rocks or fallen logs. They like to cover themselves as much as possible during the day, and can often be found burrowed beneath loose sand or plant life. Since Louisiana milk snakes are nocturnal, they spend most of their nights hunting small mice or lizards. Place a snake trap if you are trying to find a Louisiana milk snake that has gotten loose in your home. If you are intending to reclaim or relocate the snake, then make sure to purchase a snake trap that will not harm the snake. If you place the carcasses of small mice or lizards in the trap, you will be much more likely to attract a Louisiana milk snake.
