How to Make Fake Snake Bites

For the uninitiated, snake bites are paired lip rings. You can make fake snake bites to catch your friends off guard. Nonpiercing lip rings are essentially impossible to find, but you can convert hoop earrings for this purpose. Piercing the mouth can have many unexpected consequences, so this activity can prove healthier over the long-term than real snake bite piercings.

Choose a pair of hoop earrings. Soft metals like aluminum are best. They are made of metal, but it is soft and pliable. These rings must be large enough to accommodate your lip but small enough to fit snugly. Please note that a loose fit will make them slide off.

Remove the base or clasping area of the hoop earrings. You can do this with softer metals with a pair of shears. Harder metals are not recommended in this task.

    • 3

Remove jagged edges from the end of the earrings. One end of the earring goes on your lip, so loose filings or tiny metal shards may be uncomfortable or even painful. In some cases you may want to polish the metal ends to smooth them down and prevent metal shards later on. Check the ends with your fingertips before putting it in your mouth. It must be completely smooth.

Fit the finished earring on your lip. Test the ring for snug fit and move it around. If the earring was sized properly, it should fit well on your lip. If it moves around, you may remove some more of the hoop's metal to make it smaller or use a smaller set of earrings.
