Things You'll Need
Instructions
Examine the spider without coming into contact with it.
Write down as many identifying characteristics as you can. Consider the color, size and position of its legs, the shapes of its body parts, the position and number of its eyes and the location where you found it.
Connect to the Internet and go to a website that offers scientific information on a variety of spiders.
Search through the descriptions and photos on the website to find the spider you think you have. Use key descriptors such as "white spots under abdomen" if the site offers a search option. Verify that the resulting species matches the physical and behavioral descriptions of the specific spider you are trying to identify.
If necessary, transport the spider to a safe location outside of the residence or structure.
