How to Chase Off a Coyote

With a stable population that's found throughout North America in most any habitat, it's not uncommon to spot a coyote or two even in the daytime. They are a highly adaptable canine and coyotes living near urban communities have become less fearful of humans.       Make yourself appear as large as you can by holding out your arms, standing tall and opening your jacket to expand your size. Also pick up any children that are with you so that you both appear larger.

      Be very loud. Yell at the coyote to go away. If others are nearby, yell "coyote." This may bring more people to investigate which will help chase off the coyote.

      Throw rocks near the coyote without hitting it, and wave sticks at it.

      Shine a flashlight at the coyote if you encounter the coyote at night.
