How Can I Incubate Button Quail Eggs?

"Button Quail" is a name that is used to refer to a number of different quail species. The most commonly raised is the Chinese Painted Quail. It is a small bird whose native habitat is in China, but is raised by enthusiasts in many countries. The hen lays an average from four to six eggs a day. She may abandon them soon afterward, in which case you may need to collect and incubate them.

Instructions

Turn on the incubator 24 hours before you put the eggs inside. Check the thermometer to make sure the temperature remains constant at 100 degrees Fahrenheit, for an incubator without a fan. The temperature should be 99.5 degrees for an incubator with a fan. Keep the humidity at between 55 and 65 percent.

Put the eggs inside the incubator. If the unit does not have an automatic turner, manually turn the eggs from one side to another at least twice a day for 13 days. After the last turn, fill the water troughs with water and close the incubator for the final three days of incubation.
