Musical Dinosaur Prints
Draw or print several dinosaur footprints on construction paper and scatter them all over the floor. Place one less print on the floor than you have players. Play the soundtrack to "Jurassic Park" and have the children walk around acting like dinosaurs. When the music stops, the children must hop on a dinosaur print as fast as they can. The child left without a print is out of the game. Remove a dinosaur print, start the music again and keep playing. The last player standing on a dinosaur print wins the game.
Fossil Dig
Ask your local butcher for any leftover bones. Sterilize the bones by boiling them in water for an hour and baking them in the oven at 350 degrees for another hour. After the bones cool, spray paint them with white paint. Fill a large plastic swimming pool with play sand and bury the bones. Allow two children at a time to see who can find the most bones in one minute and award him a small prize. If you do not have access to these types of bones, purchase artificial bones online or at your local party supply store.
Pin the Horn on the Triceratops
Print or draw a large picture of a triceratops on a large poster board and hang it on the wall. Draw or print several horns and write each child's name on a horn. Place double-sided tape on the back of each horn. Blindfold each child and spin her three times. Tell her to try to pin the horn on the triceratops. The player who pins the horn closest to the correct spot wins the game and a prize.
Dinosaur Hunt
For a small dinosaur hunt, purchase a plush dinosaur and hide it somewhere in the room. Tell the players to try to find the dinosaur. The player who finds the dinosaur wins a small prize and gets to hide the dinosaur for the next game. For a large dinosaur hunt game, purchase several bags of small plastic dinosaurs and hide them all around a large park or back yard. Give each player a favor bag to find the dinosaurs. The player who finds the most dinosaurs wins a prize and all players can keep their dinosaurs to take home.
