Is There a Self-Cleaning Air Purifier?

Self-cleaning air purifiers do exist. They can save time otherwise spent on manually cleaning the device. In addition, air purifiers that can self-clean require little maintenance between filter changes.

HEPA Air Filters
- High Efficiency Particulate Accumulation ( HEPA) air purifiers can self-clean and are designed to remove radioactive particles from the air. Other convenience features include minimal sound as well as portable size.
Donaldson Self-Cleaning Systems
- Donaldson self-cleaning systems design air purification filters for industrial use. These designs include the GDX for large turbines, GDX for smaller turbines and the TTD™ system. The TTD™ system is specifically for gas turbine and generator ventilation applications.
ULPA Air Filters
- Ultra-Low Penetrating Air (ULPA) filters are mainly used in hospitals. However, as of January 2011, ULPA filters are available in portable self-contained home air cleaners. They also have the ability to self-clean, and they trap 99.99 percent of 0.1 micron particles.
