Things You'll Need
Instructions
Research locations to determine the closest facility to swim with bottlenose dolphins. Choose a location that appeals to you, or is close by, and choose a date that you wish to swim with dolphins.
Call the facility you have chosen for this fun activity and call ahead to make reservations. Swimming with dolphins is a popular commodity, and it is important to reserve a day in advance to ensure you are able to swim with dolphins to get the time and date desired.
Practice becoming comfortable in the water before your scheduled swim date. Swimming and snorkeling are great ways to improve water comfort levels.
Purchase a short wet suit to increase buoyancy and warmth to stay in cold water longer. Some facilities provide a wet suit; check with your reservation to determine if purchase of a wet suit ahead of time is necessary.
Read books and internet articles about the bottlenose dolphin to gain insight on the species. This new knowledge will enrich the swimming with dolphins experience.
Touch the dolphins gently but firmly. If able, hold on to the dorsal fin so that you will be pulled by the dolphin. Another technique involves having two dolphins come up from behind you and push you out of the water by pushing the bottoms of your feet with their nose.
