Heat Lamp
A heat lamp provides infrared heat and can be used as a heat source for incubating fertile eggs, but cannot incubate. Lack of insulation, drafty conditions and absence of humidity prevent successful rearing.
Incubator
Incubators promote the best environment for eggs. Incubators provide an insulated space where heat and humidity can be monitored and regulated. Proper temperature and humidity levels are essential to nurturing eggs into hatchlings.
Necessary Adjustments
To use a heat lamp to successfully incubate, an incubator-like structure must be employed. In addition to walls to protect from draft, a humidity source is needed as well as thermometers to monitor temperature.
