How to Get a Texas Deer Hunting License

You need a license to hunt deer in Texas. Recreational licenses are available for purchase at nearly 1,700 different locations, including gun shops and grocery sand sporting goods stores throughout the state. According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, you can also purchase a hunting license over the phone or online with a credit card. As of winter 2010, a resident license costs $25. A $5 administrative fee is charged for all phone and Internet orders.

      Go to the Texas Parks and Wildlife's License Connection website. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click "Continue." A new window will open.

      Make a selection for licenses under "Online Services." If you have purchased a license before, click on the correct box that says "If you have purchased a Texas hunting or fishing license before."

      Enter your personal information, including your name, Social Security number, address and phone number. Click "Submit" when done.

      Enter your credit card information. You can use either a Visa, MasterCard or Discover credit card for the purchase. Click "Submit" when done.

      Write down the confirmation number for your order and print a copy of the receipt. Once the order is processed, you will receive your license in the mail.
