Things You'll Need
Instructions
Put screens on your windows if possible. This cuts down the reflective quality of the glass and prevents birds from attacking out of territoriality.
Pull down your shades. This allows the birds to see the glass as a solid and not something that they can fly through.
Place decorative window films on the window to break up the reflection on the glass.
Move the bird feeders away from the windows. If your bird feeders are close to the windows, they will lure the birds. Birds feel very territorial around bird feeders, and a sudden glimpse of themselves in a mirrored window can cause them to attack.
Punch a hole near the top of a pie tin and thread a length of string through it. Hang the pie tin outdoors in front of the window. The brightly reflective surface throws around rays of light that startle the birds and keep them away. You may also use old CDs for this purpose.
Place hawk or falcon silhouettes on the windows. These silhouettes feature predatory birds and will keep the local birds from venturing close. You may need to move the silhouettes around on the window as time goes on to prevent the birds from becoming immune to their effects.
