Benefits
According to the manufacturer, this metal detector offers the benefits of both a low-frequency electromagnetic metal detector and a high-frequency detector. Low-frequency detectors penetrate deeply into the ground but are less sensitive to small items. High-frequency detectors cannot penetrate as deeply but are more sensitive to smaller items.
Technology
Many metal detectors send out single-frequency signals between 1 and 70 kilohertz, allowing for limited detection. The Minelab Explorer SE employs a full-band spectrum circuit, which transmits several frequencies simultaneously for deep and accurate detecting. This model of metal detector also offers a setting that can identify materials (nails, jewelry and so forth) while they are still in the ground. It can transmit frequencies in a range from 1.5 kilohertz to 100 kilohertz.
Operating the Detector
This metal detector has been pre-set to respond to several types of targets and ignore signals from other targets, such as iron nails. The operator is free to adjust sensitivity settings. The detector should be used in a sweeping motion that keeps the coil parallel to the ground at all times, and it should be passed closely above the ground during each sweep. The Minelab Explorer SE will make an audible sound when its detection field encounters a metallic object.
