Aquarius and Astrology
In Western astrology, Aquarius is the 11th sign, or house, of the zodiac. People born between Jan. 20 and Feb. 19 (when the sun is moving though the constellation Aquarius) have Aquarius as their sun sign. Elements, symbols and planets associated with Aquarius are air, the water bearer, and Saturn and Uranus. Those with the sun sign Aquarius are said to be intelligent, humanitarian, philanthropic and frank. The famed "Age of Aquarius" refers to a shift in human existence to either great peace or the end of life as we know it. Some debate whether the Age of Aquarius has already begun.
Aquarius and Astronomy
In astronomy, Aquarius refers to a constellation, and one of the oldest we know. Aquarius is part of a band of constellations that our sun -- as well as the moon and other planets -- moves though over the course of the year. According to the University of Wisconsin, Aquarius is visible between latitudes 65 and -90 degrees, and is best seen in October at about 9 p.m.

Our moon is in Aquarius when it is moving through the Aquarius constellation, which happens about once a month. People born when the moon is in this position have an Aquarius moon sign. Those with an Aquarius moon sign are said to be humanitarians, observant and perhaps loners at heart, often having trouble fitting in with their peers.
Aquarius Lunar Surface
The appearance of the moon when it is in the House of Aquarius is the Aquarius lunar surface. Although the moon may look different in Aquarius depending on which phase it is in, the surface facing Earth will always be the same. This is because we always see the same side of the moon, because of its slow rotation. Earth rotates once every 24 hours; the moon takes a full month to rotate once. Although the phases and positions of the moon are said to dictate certain astrological forces, the lunar surface itself has little influence.
