How to Analyze Divisional Charts

Divisional charts are used in astrology and horoscope reading. They are charts that divide each of the zodiac signs into a number of sections, depending on the subject of interest. There are hundreds of divisional charts, which serve different purposes of study. Analyzing a divisional chart requires special care and attention to details.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the divisional chart only for the matter of interest to which it applies. For instance, use the D-9 chart to analyze marriage and relationships, rather than financial or monetary matters. Avoid using the divisional chart for a purpose other than which it is intended.

    • 2

Select the correct house or arudha before choosing any other details. Divisional charts are first organized into different houses or arudhas, according to matters of interest. For instance, in the D-24 chart, education is a component of the fourth house, while reputation is a component of the fifth house. Carefully analyze what precisely you desire to divine, and choose the house that most fully corresponds with this topic.

    • 3

Select the correct reference. On a divisional chart, the reference is the perspective or thread from which the house is accessed. For instance, if trying to divine your academic reputation, use the reference for perceived self (AL), rather than from the true self (lagna), as reputation is a matter of perception rather than essence. As with the house, carefully contemplate the nature of the knowledge that you seek to determine the reference most suited to your search needs.

    • 4

Examine the relevant influences in a divisional chart. Influences are the planets that bring fortune or obstacles. To properly identify influences, examine the planets in the same quadrant as your house as well as the planets that surround your house. Read the planets in the same quadrant as primary influences, and read surrounding planets as secondary influences.
