How to Draw Zodiac Constellations

The zodiac constellations fall across the ecliptic, or the path the sun follows as viewed from earth, according to Daogreer Earth Works. Zodiac constellations have also become an integral part of our culture, with horoscopes and star charts abounding. The constellations themselves are a collection of points made of stars that can be connected like connect-the-dots, and represent different figures in the sky. Drawing constellations requires just a little concentration and care.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine a chart of the zodiac constellations. The way the stars connect to make a shape is not always apparent. A good guide can be found at astrologyweekly.com.

    • 2

Draw the brightest stars in the zodiac constellation of your choice first, for example Aries. Aries has about five anchor stars, which hold the shape together. Carefully space each star point to match the shape of the constellation. Use your pencil to make a small dot on the paper. Keep your markings light until you feel confident about the spacing of the points. Erase and redo, if necessary.

    • 3

Add in the more detailed stars in between the anchor star points. For example, Aries contains smaller stars that sit between the anchor stars and create a detailed shape.

    • 4

Use a ruler to connect the star points and create the zodiac shape. For example, Aries represents a ram; the bottom four stars are connected to create the legs and the top left corner stars are connected in a triangle to create a tail. Using a ruler will help you create straight, solid lines.

    • 5

Draw over the pencil markings and star points with a black ink pen to create the final look.
