Stones Associated With Gemini

Birthstones are gemstones that are related to each month, while star stones are gemstones that relate to your planet or star sign, rather than the month in which you were born. Gemini, known as the Twins (May 22 to June 21), has several different precious and semiprecious stones associated with the sign. The stone most commonly associated with Gemini is agate.
  1. Agate

    • Agate comes in a wide range of colors.

Agate is Gemini's traditional Ayurvedic birthstone. Ayurvedic is a type of Indian medicine that has been used for over 1,000 years. Agate is made up of chalcedony quartz and can be found in a wide variety of colors, with green and blue being the most rare. Moss agate is the type of agate most strongly associated with Gemini, even though it is Taurus' star stone. Moss agate can be found in North America. Agate is a grounding stone, meaning it is supposed to center and balance the wearer, it is associated with emotions, and it helps to absorb negative energy.

    Beryl

    • Green beryl is more commonly known as emerald.

In Chinese astrology, Beryl is associated with Gemini's ruling planet, Mercury. It is a relatively unknown stone itself; however, green beryl is known as emerald and blue beryl is known as aquamarine--more commonly recognized stones. Emerald is the traditional birthstone for Geminis born in May. In its pure form, beryl is colorless, but it may be found in golden-green colors, pink, red and yellow. Beryl is associated with improving willpower and according to Gemstone Street, it was one of the first stones used by ancient seers.

    Onyx

    • Black onyx may be found naturally or dyed.

Onyx is associated with the planet Mercury. It is a type of chalcedony and is found in America, Germany, Canada and Uruguay. It may be found in a variety of colors, although black onyx is one of the most common, along with brown onyx. According to Gemstone Street, onyx often is used in rosaries as it is associated with devotion and concentration. Onyx also is thought to help with stress and inner serenity. Black onyx guards against negativity and creates emotional stability.

    Peridot

    • Peridot often is confused with emerald.

Peridot usually is bright green and has a strong association with Gemini because of its association with Mercury. Peridot is the birthstone for August. It can be found in America, China, Pakistan, Australia, Norway and Egypt. Peridot is believed to aid sleeplessness, reduce stress and stimulate the mind. It also may help ward off negative feelings and aid speech.

    Chrysolite

    • Chrysolite, also associated with Mercury, is the most common mineral on earth and is a member of the olivine family. Most commonly found in a golden-yellow or golden-green color, chrysolite is believed to be most powerful when set in gold. Chrysolite has been used to help with insomnia, protect against nightmares, and improve the wearer's mood and creativity. It also is thought to help with colds and viruses.
