Look at the design of the telescope. Children's refracting telescopes come in a variety of designs and styles, such as looking like a large binocular or looking similar to the technical telescopes. The design often determines adjustment options.
Look for knobs. Telescopes often have knobs to adjust the eye lens to different locations, such as putting it closer together for a small child's face or moving the eye lens downward. Turn any knobs and watch the lens. It should move up and down or move side to side, depending on the telescope and design.
Tilt the eye lens gently. Many children's telescopes without an adjustable knob have options to move the lens around by pulling it up or pushing it down.
