As the sun travels through the sky, it passes through 12 constellations, or signs, at different times of the year. The sun passes through Aries from approximately March 20 to April 20, depending on the year. Those born during that time are said to have an Aries sun sign.

- Aries is the pioneer of the zodiac, original and independent. Aries individuals forge ahead and take charge. They learn quickly and have a competitive edge. Impulsive and eager, they have an almost child-like charm and are very direct and straightforward. They are physically active and are often natural athletes. On the downside, they may be domineering, quick-tempered, tactless and lack follow-through.

- Many famous Aries individuals were pioneers in their fields. Bette Davis, often called "the first lady of the American screen," stands out as an Aries original, as does Gloria Steinem, feminist activist and co-founder of "Ms." magazine.. Leonardo da Vinci, scientist, inventor and artist, was an Aries, as is Stephen Sondheim, composer and lyricist, whose work changed the course of American musical theater.
